Harappa was the first Indus city to be excavated, in the 1920s, which is why the whole Indus civilization is often called the Harappan civilization. The site museum was set up in 1926 beside the mounds.
Its cases hold seals, beads, bangles, figurines and painted pottery, and a walk around the site takes you past granaries, workshops and the cemetery of a city that flourished more than 4,000 years ago.
