The story

The museum's first building opened in 1937, with a great brick entrance arch inspired by the Sasanian palace of Ctesiphon. A second building for the Islamic period was added later.

Its galleries hold finds from Persepolis, Susa and other great sites of ancient Iran, from the Achaemenid kings to the Safavid shahs.
