The story

The businessman Shivratan Mohatta built this summer palace in 1927 from pink Jodhpur stone and yellow Gizri stone, in the style of the palaces of Rajasthan. After independence it housed the Foreign Office, and later Fatima Jinnah lived here.

It opened as a museum of art and culture in 1999 and holds changing exhibitions on the arts, crafts and history of Pakistan, inside one of Karachi's most beautiful buildings.
