The story

The collection began in the Forbidden City in Beijing. During the wars of the twentieth century it was packed into crates and moved again and again, and part of it reached Taiwan in 1948-49. The museum in Taipei opened in 1965.

It holds hundreds of thousands of objects from eight thousand years of Chinese history: bronzes, jades, porcelain, painting and calligraphy.
